WHAT IS
CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 200 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids that are found in the hemp plant. It is the second most prevalent active compound found in the cannabis plant, behind THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the compound in cannabis that has psychoactive properties and gives people a high. Industrial hemp has over 50,000 current uses, including CBD products.

Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive properties and will not give you a “high”. There is no evidence it has any abuse or dependence potential and to date, there is no evidence that it is associated with any serious side effects.

Instead, CBD has been credited with helping patients that have medical conditions such as epilepsy, anxiety, inflammation, insomnia, and pain. Although “credited” does not mean proven yet, because the decades-long federal prohibition against hemp prevented any serious cultivation and research by American citizens (with the exception of manufacturing during WW2), but both are now booming nationwide thanks to the end of prohibition with the 2018 Farm Bill signed by President Trump.

Under current federal and Texas law, hemp products such as CBD oils and gummies must contain no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight. In addition to the numerous benefits that hemp offers to the human body and well being, hemp fiber and grain production is the future for 100% biodegradable, environmentally friendly products such as clothing, packaging, biofuel, building materials, and paper. Any product that can be made of of wood or plastic can be made from industrial hemp!
